Hyderabad: Shabbir Ali on Thursday launched the Indiramma housing scheme in Kamareddy district, starting construction works in Chinna Mallareddy village for families who lost homes in last year’s rains. The Congress government’s advisor said the party was following through on its election promises despite financial strain.

He pointed to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s visit to the same village during the “Haath Se Haath Jodo Yatra” on 18 March 2023, where he met Dalit women Bikkunuru Lakshmi and Chityala Rajamani. Both had lost their houses during heavy rainfall. Revanth assured them new houses under the Congress government. Sanctions were cleared in January. Work began now due to the Model Code of Conduct.

Shabbir said 4.5 lakh houses have been sanctioned under the scheme, with 3,500 houses allotted per Assembly constituency. In Kamareddy, 3,028 beneficiaries are confirmed. Another 472 will be added.

He listed other Congress schemes currently underway: ₹500 LPG cylinders, free travel for women in TSRTC buses, ₹2 lakh farm loan waivers under Rythu Bharosa, 200 units of free power, and timely disbursal of Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak, Aarogyasri and CMRF support.

He criticised opposition leaders, accusing them of mismanaging public money and operating from private farmhouses. He said the Congress was not focused on land deals or commissions, but on rebuilding and service delivery.
