Nizamabad, January 11: Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir said the Congress government believes in equitable development and is committed to ensuring all communities and regions receive equal attention. He was speaking at multiple events held in Nizamabad on Sunday, including the launch of ₹60 crore development works, CMRF cheque distribution, felicitation of Dalit representatives, and the 219th birth anniversary celebrations of freedom fighter Vadde Obanna.

At Vinayak Nagar, foundation stones were laid for ₹60 crore worth of integrated development works across 60 municipal divisions, with ₹1 crore allocated to each division. A separate ₹6 crore was allotted for the construction of a 33/11 KV substation to address voltage fluctuations and electricity supply issues in the town.

Shabbir Ali and PCC president and MLC B. Mahesh Kumar Goud led the ceremony, stating that the Congress government is working without political bias. “Earlier, there was discrimination in allocation of funds. Now, every division is getting equal priority,” said Shabbir Ali. He added that the funds would be used for drainage improvements, internal road construction, and installation of streetlights.

Mahesh Kumar Goud said ₹60 crore was just the beginning and promised to bring more funds in future. “Our aim is to develop Nizamabad in every possible way,” he said. MLA Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta, NUDA Chairman Keshava Venu, and local party leaders were present.

At a separate event held at the R&B Guest House in Nizamabad, 32 beneficiaries from different divisions received Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) cheques worth ₹26 lakh. Shabbir Ali said the CMRF was a major support mechanism for poor families facing financial hardship due to illness or accidents. He urged officials and party leaders to coordinate to ensure timely assistance to genuine beneficiaries.

Mahesh Kumar Goud stated that cheques were being distributed in a fully transparent manner. “There are no middlemen, no bribes. Help is reaching the right people without any interference,” he said.

In another programme at Ambedkar Bhavan, organised by Mala Mahanadu, newly elected Sarpanches, Deputy Sarpanches, and Ward Members from the Mala community were felicitated. Shabbir Ali said those elected must act as the voice of the marginalised and work in line with the ideals of Dr B.R. Ambedkar. He added that the government remained committed to the welfare of Dalit and backward communities.

Labour Minister G. Vivek Venkatswamy, who also attended the programme, said that the political rights enjoyed today were made possible by the constitutional safeguards provided by Ambedkar. He promised to work towards allocating special funds for the development of Dalit colonies, focusing on amenities such as drainage, CC roads, and drinking water. He also encouraged promotion of education schemes like the Overseas Education Fund.

In Vaddera Colony, Shabbir Ali unveiled a statue of freedom fighter Vadde Obanna as part of his 219th birth anniversary celebrations. Speaking at the event, he said Obanna played a key role in opposing British rule and had worked alongside Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy during the armed resistance.

“Vadde Obanna led tribal fighters through the Nallamala forests and resisted British troops. His role in the freedom movement deserves greater recognition,” Shabbir Ali said. He appealed for the inclusion of Obanna’s story in school textbooks.

The events were attended by Congress district president Nagesh Reddy, town president Ramakrishna, Gadugu Gangadhar, Ratnakar, Rambhoopal, Mala Mahanadu leaders, and senior officials. (eom)
