Kamareddy, February 5: Congress senior leader and Advisor to Telangana Government Mohammed Shabbir Ali said the Congress party was seeking votes in the Kamareddy municipal polls based on the development already carried out in the town. He made these remarks on Thursday during an extensive campaign across Wards 3, 4, 5, 8, 26, 29, 30 and 31, where residents welcomed him enthusiastically with garlands.

Shabbir Ali said many leaders were making promises of development, but the Congress was showing the work it had already completed. He appealed to the public to “teach a lesson” to leaders who “went into hiding for two-and-a-half years after winning elections and have now returned seeking votes”.

He alleged that some leaders were attempting to provoke communities and create rifts between castes and religions to secure votes. He urged people to be cautious of such tactics. Emphasising unity, he said humanity was the foremost value, and religious and caste identities came only after that. He said the real need of Kamareddy was development for all.

Shabbir Ali stated that his aim was to develop Kamareddy into a role model town in the State. He announced that the Congress had prepared a special manifesto exclusively for the municipality, outlining specific plans for each ward. He said the document was not merely a set of promises but a practical roadmap covering drainage works, streetlighting and core civic infrastructure, adding that each Congress candidate would remain accountable for implementing these plans.

Declaring that he himself would stand as the guarantee for the town’s progress, Shabbir Ali assured that he would take responsibility for securing government funds and monitoring developmental works. He said there would be no compromise or delay in matters related to the town’s growth.

Appealing for support to the Congress, he said welfare schemes were currently reaching every household and should continue without interruption. He urged voters to cast their ballots for the ‘Hand’ symbol and ensure a massive victory for Congress candidates so that Kamareddy could advance further on the path of progress.

Congress leaders, party workers and contesting candidates joined him during the campaign. (eom)
