Hyderabad, April 6, 2021: Former Minister & ex-Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir exhorted people to question Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and other TRS leaders on rising inflation and unemployment.

He was addressing a meeting with minority community leaders at Haliya town in Nalgonda district as part of the by-elections campaign in favour of Congress candidate K. Jana Reddy on Tuesday.

Shabbir Ali said that the prices of petrol and diesel were at their highest level despite the fact that the prices of crude oil have reduced significantly. He said that the Modi Government at the Centre and KCR Govt in Telangana did not extend the benefit of fall in prices of crude oil to the consumers. Instead, both the Centre and State Governments have increased taxes so as to burden the common man. He said that the hike in fuel prices have led to increase in prices of all essential commodities. Similarly, he said that the prices of LPG cylinders were at an all-time high with both BJP and TRS Governments not showing any concern to control them. He said that the BJP Govt has also removed all subsidies. Consequently, he said that the lives of common people have become miserable due to rising inflation. Therefore, he appealed to the voters of Nagarjuna Sagar constituency to elect Congress candidate Jana Reddy so as to punish the TRS and BJP for their wrong policies.

The Congress leader said that CM KCR should come to Nagarjuna Sagar not with a fresh bundle of fake promises, but with a progress report on his performance during the last seven years. He said nearly 30 lakh youth, including nearly 19 lakh registered with the Telangana State Public Service Commission, were jobless in Telangana. He said lakhs of jobs were lost first due to demonitisation and then due to unplanned lockdown by the BJP Govt. He said CM KCR had supported both the decisions of the Modi Govt. “KCR has failed to honour the promise of giving one lakh jobs in his first term as the CM. In the second term, he cheated the jobless youth with the promise of giving Unemployment Allowance of Rs. 3,016 per month. As against 1.91 lakh vacancies in government departments, KCR Govt is giving an assurance of filling only 50,000 posts. This clearly means that CM KCR was not serious in dealing with the unemployment situation. He is least concerned about the jobless youth. For the same reasons, neither CM KCR nor any
TRS leader even condoled the suicide by jobless youth Sunil Kumar Naik,” he said.

He said another jobless, Mahender Yadav, committed suicide in Sircilla. He appealed to the jobless youth not to resort to extreme steps and assured that the Congress party would fight for their rights.

Shabbir Ali said that the people of Nagarjuna Sagar got the opportunity to change the course of history by defeating TRS and BJP. “CM KCR has been winning elections by spending hundreds of crores and misusing official machinery. He is creating a false impression that people were in his favour. KCR and his family has encroached upon the resources of Telangana. Voters of Nagarjuna Sagar can begin the process of freeing Telangana from the clutches of arrogant and inhuman KCR Govt by electing Jana Reddy,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Shabbir Ali met Moulana Ahsanuddin, Nalgonda district President of Jamiat-ul-Ulema-e-Hind seeking support for Jana Reddy. He briefed Moulana Ahsanuddin on how the 4% Muslim reservation introduced by previous Congress Government in 2004 has so far benefitted nealry 20 lakh poor Muslims. He said CM KCR was acting as an agent of PM Modi and TRS always supported the policies of BJP Govt at the Centre. He said KCR has cheated Muslims on the promise of 12% reservation and misleading the community with wrong figures of spending on minorities’ welfare. He said that the TRS Govt did not spend even 50% of the amount allocated in the budget for minorities’ welfare. Further, he said almost 80% of minority institutions and thousands of Madrasas have been shut down ever since TRS came to power in 2014.

Stating that Jamiat-ul-Ulema has been with the Congress party since independence, Moulana Ahsanuddin has assured to consider the request to support Jana Reddy in Nagarjuna Sagar by-elections.
