Kamareddy, January 19: Former Minister & ex-Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Sahbbir said that there has been a tremendous response to the digital membership drive of Congress party across the State.
Addressing a meeting held in Lingampet Mandal headquarters in Yellareddy constituency of Kamareddy district on Wednesday, Shabbir Ali expressed satisfaction over the pace of membership in the Kamareddy district although he advised the party workers to expedite it so as to reach all sections of the society. He said that the membership drive was launched on December 9, on the occasion of the birthday of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and also the anniversary of the announcement of formation of Telangana State.
Shabbir Ali said that TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy was focused on strengthening the party at the ground level. Therefore, he said a target of 30 lakh members across the State has been set with the aim of having at least 100 members in each of nearly 34,000 polling booths. For the first time in the country, he said that the Congress members would get an accidental insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh and an agreement with the New India Assurance company has already been signed for this.
He said that the PCC President himself was reviewing the program at the field level on a weekly basis. Observers have been appointed at the Assembly and Parliament constituency level to carry out the membership drive in an efficient and transparent manner. He said leaders at all levels in the district must get involved in the membership drive. He said that the TPCC has set a target of two lakh members for each parliamentary constituency, 30,000 for each assembly constituency and one hundred for each polling booth.
Shabbir Ali said that the workers with exemplary performance in enrolling new members would be felicitated and honored by the TPCC. He said those enrolling more two hundred members would be invited to Hyderabad and felicitated by PCC President Revanth Reddy.
The review meeting was attended by TPCC Vice President Ramesh, Kamareddy DCC President Kailas Srinivas, Yellareddy Constituency In-Charge Vaddepalli Subhash Reddy, Congress IT Cell Chairman Madan Mohan and other senior leaders.
