Kamareddy, July 27: Telangana Government Advisor and senior Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Sunday said that safeguarding the Constitution is the foremost responsibility of Bahujan communities. He was addressing the ‘Bahujan Alai-Balai’ programme held at Kalabharathi auditorium in Kamareddy town, organised by the All India Ambedkar Yuvajana Sangham, Kamareddy district unit.
Speaking as the chief guest, Shabbir Ali said, “Protecting the Constitution is the commitment of Bahujans. The BJP’s arrogant slogan ‘Ab ki baar 400 paar’ was countered by Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.”
He added, “Those dreaming of scrapping the Constitution and bringing in Manusmriti will be left with nothing but dreams. Such regressive ideas will never succeed.”
Praising public intellectuals, he remarked, “Even thinkers like Kancha Ilaiah have come out in support of Rahul Gandhi’s leadership. That shows the direction the country must take.”
Marking a key policy announcement, Shabbir Ali said, “For the first time in the country, Telangana under Congress rule is beginning implementation of 42% BC reservations.”
He urged the Bahujan communities to unite in the upcoming local elections. “Let us all stand together and support the Congress Party. Show your strength by ensuring victory.”
He also said, “Bahujans across the state must hold such programmes to spread awareness and protect our Constitution.”
Reflecting on the occasion, he noted, “It is a matter of pride to participate in this programme in Kamareddy as the country completes 75 years since the implementation of the Constitution written by Dr B R Ambedkar.”
Paying homage to reformers, Shabbir Ali stated, “We must carry forward the ideals of great leaders who fought for the rights of SCs, STs, BCs and minorities – Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, Savitribai Phule, Dr Ambedkar, and Periyar Ramasamy.”
He warned that the rights and reservations secured by Dr Ambedkar are now under threat. “There is an urgent need to stand up and fight for our rights – be it in education, politics, society, or the economy,” he said.
“Only by uniting behind the Congress Party can we bring it to power and protect our Constitution,” he concluded. (eom)
