Kamareddy, June 26: Congress senior leader and Advisor to the Telangana Government Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Thursday said that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is running a truly farmer-friendly government in Telangana.

He was addressing a large-scale Congress workers’ meeting held at Balaji Function Hall in Machareddy mandal of Kamareddy Assembly constituency.

Shabbir Ali said the Congress government, under Revanth Reddy’s leadership, had set a record by disbursing Rs 9,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme within just nine days, showing its firm commitment to farmers’ welfare. “This government is not just making promises – it is delivering. We are constructing 3,500 Indiramma houses in Kamareddy for the poor who do not have homes,” he announced.

He criticised the BJP for spreading false propaganda about the supply of fine rice, asserting that Telangana’s Congress government is providing high-quality rice even elders prefer to eat. “Let BJP name one of its ruled states where such rice is being given to the poor,” he challenged.

Calling the BJP’s politics misleading and divisive, Shabbir Ali said the party had done nothing for Telangana and was only trying to provoke people for political gain. He urged Congress leaders and workers to set aside internal differences and work together for the party’s success in the upcoming local body elections. “Our party workers have worked tirelessly for victory. Now it’s time to repay them by giving them responsibilities and grooming them as future leaders,” he said.

He also appealed to all members to attend party meetings without fail and extend full cooperation in forming village, mandal, and block committees as per AICC directives. “Our mission is to give posts and responsibilities to committed workers. Through Bhu Bharati, we are solving farmers’ land issues,” he added. He alleged that during the previous BRS regime, commissions were looted in the name of double-bedroom houses.

AICC Secretary Vishnunadhan, who also spoke at the event, said that Revanth Reddy had made Telangana a role model for the entire country by successfully conducting a caste census, something Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not implement in Gujarat. He highlighted that during the UPA regime under Sonia Gandhi’s leadership, Congress introduced key reforms such as MNREGA, the Food Security Act, land distribution to Dalits and Adivasis, and waived Rs 71,000 crore in farm loans. He also mentioned that handloom workers received Rs 5,000 crore in loan waivers.

Vishnunadhan accused the BJP government of introducing black laws that led to the deaths of over 700 farmers and of exploiting caste and religion to gain power without delivering real benefits to the people. “The people have realised this, and Congress is resurging across the country. We will return to power soon,” he declared, urging party workers to take the Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan campaign to every village and amplify it further.

Zaheerabad MP Suresh Shetkar, who also addressed the gathering, said Congress leaders must prioritise public service and help rectify administrative shortcomings to prevent inconvenience to the people. He warned that those creating disputes over minor issues would face suspension from the party. “When workers are united, we will work to ensure everyone gets their due recognition and responsibilities,” he said.

Suresh Shetkar added that there should be no discrimination between groups or individuals and that every eligible poor person would receive a house. “Funds will be released based on the progress of construction works. Without the party, without its scarf, no one would have received these opportunities. If we want the Congress to return to power, we must remain united,” he said.

He stressed that there should be no divide between old and new members and that strengthening the party is everyone’s responsibility. “Those who worked at the grassroots and carried the party flag will be recognised and rewarded. Only disciplined and dedicated members will be given posts,” he concluded.

Kamareddy District Presidents of frontal organisations, Mandal Presidents, Village Presidents, former ZPTCs, former MPTCs, Sarpanches, Block Congress Presidents and other leaders participated in the meeting. (eom)
