Hyderabad, May 11, 2021: Former Minister & ex-Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has strongly condemned Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for announcing the total lockdown in view of Covid-19 at a short span of time.
“The High Court has made serious remarks against the State Government for not taking adequate measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in Telangana. While the High Court was in favour of taking strict measures since the beginning, CM KCR, the then Health Minister Etela Rajender, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and other leaders kept misleading the people by saying that there would be no lockdown or night curfew. However, citing High Court orders, first the night curfew was imposed and now the 10-day lockdown has been announced. People would have prepared themselves mentally if CM KCR would’ve been a little realistic,” he said.
Shabbir Ali said that CM KCR has become habitual of keeping people in the dark. “KCR speak lies with so much comfort and flow that innocent people take them for truth. When the first case of Covid was reported, he took it in a lighter vein and even claimed that it could be cured with a paracetamol tablet. He kept on changing his statements but never told the reality to the people. Consequently, crores of people have been suffering due to his lies and wrong decisions,” he said.
The Congress leader demanded that the TRS Government provide financial assistance to all the BPL and middle-class families during the lockdown period. He said steps should be taken to ensure that the prices of essential commodities and services remain in control during the 10-day lockdown period. He said that the government should improve the infrastructure and fill the gaps in the system to provide better healthcare to Covid patients.
Further, Shabbir Ali said that the State Government should ensure free Covid treatment for all, irrespective of their present economic status. He also demanded compensation for those killed due to the Coronavirus.
