- Old school building to make way for modern classrooms, labs and digital facilities
Kamareddy, August 10: Telangana Government Advisor and former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Monday visited the Zilla Parishad Boys High School in Kamareddy, where he had studied, and reviewed plans for its redevelopment with an allocation of ₹5 crore.
The old school building is set to be demolished and replaced with a new structure equipped with modern educational facilities. Shabbir Ali had taken up the school’s requirements with the Chief Minister and facilitated the sanction of ₹5 crore for the development works.
During the visit, Shabbir Ali inspected the old building and spent some time in the classroom where he had studied. He recalled his school days and interacted with former students and classmates.
Shabbir Ali said he had studied at the school in 1971 and had long wanted to contribute to its development.
“This is the school where I studied. It is not just an educational institution for me, but the place where the foundation of my life was laid. My journey began here, and I have always wanted to do something for this school,” he said.
He said it was a memorable experience to meet former classmates again on the same school premises after several years.
Shabbir Ali said the redevelopment project would focus not only on the construction of the new building but also on improving facilities for students in line with present-day educational standards.
The proposed facilities include modern laboratories, computer labs, digital classrooms and other educational infrastructure. He said he was also extending financial support from his own resources wherever required for the school’s development.
During the programme, Shabbir Ali held an interaction with former students, enquired about their well-being and recalled their school days, teachers and childhood experiences.
He said he was happy that the school would soon get a modern building, though the demolition of the old structure, which was associated with his childhood memories, was an emotional moment.
“The building will change, but the memories this school has given me will never change,” he said.
Former students appreciated Shabbir Ali’s efforts to secure funds for the institution and improve facilities for present and future students.
Municipal Chairperson Umarani Srinivas, Town Congress president Aireni Sandeep, Library Chairman Maddi Chandrakanth Reddy, Kailasa Srinivas, Mohammed Ilyas, Pandla Raju, former students and others participated in the programme. (eom)
