Shabbir slams CM KCR for not including a Muslim member in new TSPSC

  • KCR conspiring to stop 4% Muslim quota in jobs, alleges Shabbir
  • Congress demands recruitment schedule to fill 1.90 lakh vacancies
  • Congress asks CM KCR to provide Unemployment Allowance to jobless youth

Hyderabad, May 20, 2021: Former Minister & ex-Leader of Opposition in Telangana State Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has strongly condemned the non-inclusion of a Muslim member in the newly constituted Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC).

“Muslims constitute nearly 14-15% of the total population in Telangana. Almost 90% of Muslim youth are jobless and aspire to get recruited in various appointments to be made by the State Government. Presently, almost 80% of Muslims are covered under the BC-E category and they are entitled to 4% quota in all the recruitments. Therefore, the presence of a Muslim member in the TSPSC was essential to ensure proper implementation of the present 4% Muslim quota, introduced by the previous Congress Government in 2004. However, CM KCR apparently wants to stop the ongoing 4% Muslim quota in government jobs. As a prelude, he did not appoint any Muslim member in the TSPSC,” alleged Shabbir Ali in a mediate statement on Thursday.

Shabbir Ali reminded that CM KCR had promised to provide 12% quota in jobs and education to Muslims of Telangana within four months after coming to power. Even after seven-and-a-half years, this promise remained unfulfilled. “At one side KCR is trying to portray himself as a secular leader by making fake claims on minorities’ welfare. On the other hand, he is doing everything possible to implement the hidden agenda of RSS and please BJP Govt at the Centre headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. More than half of professional colleges and other institutions of higher education for minorities in Telangana have been shut down ever since TRS came to power in 2014. The damage was caused in a systematic manner and minority youth were deprived of higher education,” he said.

“It is highly unfortunate that CM KCR could not find a single person in the entire Muslim community, including TRS leaders, who qualifies to serve as a TSPSC member,” he said while adding that the Muslims still loyal to the TRS party must realise that their leader KCR is now openly targetting the minority community. Stating that there was one Muslim member in the previous TSPSC constituted in 2014, he said this time KCR avoided a Muslim to please the BJP. “CM KCR is not only implementing the BJP schemes like Aayushman Bharat in Telangana, but also implementing the hidden anti-minority agenda of RSS,” he said.

Stating that newly appointed TSPSC Chairman Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy was both efficient and experienced, he hoped that the Commission under his leadership would function in a transparent manner. “There are more than 1.90 lakh vacancies in various departments of the State Government. CM KCR had promised to fill 50,000 vacancies in the next few months. Since the new Commission has been appointed, the State Government should announce the schedule, along with a deadline by which 50,000 vacancies will be filled. Further, CM KCR should also give a deadline by which he plans to fill the remaining 1.40 lakh vacancies,” he demanded.

Shabbir Ali claimed that there were nearly 30 lakh jobless youth in Telangana. They include nearly 19 lakh qualified graduates who have registered themselves with the TSPSC. The TRS Government should announce its plan to provide employment to the remaining 28 lakh jobless youth in the State. Till then, he said that CM KCR should provide an Unemployment Allowance of Rs. 3,016 per month to all the jobless youth which was promised in the TRS manifesto for 2018 elections.
