BRS silver jubilee meeting a flop show, says Shabbir Ali

Hyderabad, April 28: Advisor to Telangana Government Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Monday dismissed the BRS Silver Jubilee meeting held in Warangal as a complete “flop show,” likening it to a badly made film with a terrible script and an even worse actor.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan alongside TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, Shabbir Ali said that BRS President and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao had once again staged a “drama” filled with lies, deception, and theatrics that no one was willing to watch anymore.

“The BRS cinema has flopped, and KCR’s drama has bombed at the box office,” Shabbir Ali quipped. He said that what KCR spoke at Warangal was nothing but a bundle of lies, far removed from reality. “Our PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, rightly threw an open challenge to KCR for a debate – compare what Congress achieved in just 15-16 months versus what KCR did in his grand 10 years. If KCR has any courage left, he should accept the challenge,” he said.

Shabbir Ali further said KCR had no moral right to criticise the Gandhi family. “It is said that if you spit towards the sky, it falls on your own face. KCR should remember that,” he remarked, adding, “You started your political journey with fake passport activities, while the Gandhi family sacrificed everything for this nation.”

Reminding everyone of KCR’s earlier praises, Shabbir said, “When I was the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council in 2016, I asked about Sonia Gandhi’s role in Telangana’s formation. Back then, KCR went on record calling Sonia Gandhi the ‘Telangana Talli’. What happened now? Memory loss? Or is it selective amnesia based on political needs?”

Shabbir Ali accused KCR of duplicity. “He calls me ‘Shabbir Bhai’ with great affection in public, but behind the scenes, he engineers defections to snatch the Leader of Opposition post from me. Same KCR promised to make a Dalit the Chief Minister, but couldn’t even tolerate Bhatti Vikramarka as Dalit Leader of Opposition and split the party through backdoor defections,” he pointed out.

Taking a dig at KCR’s tall claims on Hyderabad’s development, Shabbir Ali said, “You kept promising sky-high development, but as usual, only Congress delivered. Congress brought Metro Rail to Hyderabad. BRS did nothing for a decade except offering big words and small actions. It was again Congress, after coming to power, that resumed and expanded the Metro Rail network.”

On the agricultural front too, Shabbir said, the contrast could not be starker. “Under KCR, farmers were treated like criminals for daring to grow paddy. Now, Telangana under the Congress Government is achieving record paddy production,” he said, adding that this success was made possible because of the irrigation projects initiated during the Congress era. “Forget completing new projects, the only project KCR bragged about – Kaleshwaram – collapsed like a sandcastle in a few months,”

Comparing KCR’s rare public appearances to the seasonal emergence of frogs during rains, Shabbir Ali said, “Once in a while, KCR hops out of his farmhouse, croaks a few criticisms against Congress, and quickly disappears again.”

Mocking the attendance at the Warangal meeting, he said, “It was less a political gathering and more a catering event – Rs 500 and one chicken biryani, or the deluxe package: Rs 300, a quarter, and one chicken biryani. With such attractive packages, no wonder they managed to herd some people into the venue.”

Shabbir Ali also noted the glaring absence of women at the BRS meeting. “Women didn’t turn up because they are genuinely happy under the Congress regime. Our welfare schemes, support programs, and governance have restored their faith. They had no reason to waste a day attending KCR’s circus.” (eom)
