· Congress leaders condemn violence, promise action against guilty

Hyderabad, September 14: Advisor to the Telangana Government (SC, ST, OBC & Minorities) Mohammed Ali Shabbir and newly appointed TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the communal violence that rocked Jainoor in the Kumrambheem Asifabad district. They also promised that adequate compensation would be provided to those who suffered losses in the riots.

The assurances came during a meeting with a delegation of Jainoor residents who visited Shabbir Ali’s residence in Jubilee Hills on Saturday. Mahesh Kumar Goud, who was visiting Shabbir Ali on a courtesy call following his appointment as TPCC President, also met with the victims during the meeting. TPCC Spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin and other senior leaders were also present.

The Congress leaders had a telephonic conversation with the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police (SP) to assess the status of the investigation into the violence. They were informed that 110 shops were set on fire during the riots, and 28 individuals involved in the violence had been identified.

Shabbir Ali condemned the incidents of communal violence, describing them as part of a larger conspiracy aimed at discrediting the Congress government led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He said that upon receiving news of the violence, he had immediately contacted Inspector General of Police Chandrashekhar Reddy, the District SP and other senior police officials to ensure prompt action. He also stated that the government had taken swift steps to prevent further escalation and had launched a high-level investigation into the matter. “Everyone responsible for this violence will face strict legal action,” Shabbir Ali said, adding that even officials who failed to perform their duties would be held accountable.

Mahesh Kumar Goud reiterated the Congress government’s secular commitment and asserted that the state would not tolerate any form of violence. He said that while the government had taken strong measures to prevent such incidents, certain communal elements were attempting to disturb the peace and malign the administration. “We will ensure that these elements are brought to justice, and adequate compensation will be paid to all victims, regardless of their community,” Goud assured. He also emphasized that steps would be taken to restore peace and rebuild trust in the affected areas.

Earlier, Jainoor residents, led by Syed Sha Rasheed Ul-Haq, submitted a representation to Congress leaders detailing the events of September 4, when violence broke out between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., causing widespread damage to shops, homes, and religious sites. Muslim-owned businesses were specifically targeted, and many were set on fire in full view of the authorities.

With damages estimated at Rs 100 crores, residents sought compensation and swift action to rebuild the affected areas and restore peace, citing grave violations of human rights and the need for judicial intervention.

Shabbir Ali and Mahesh Kumar Goud assured the delegation that they would take up the issue with the Chief Minister seeking a thorough investigation into all the allegations. (eom)
