Kamareddy, January 6: Senior Congress leader and Advisor to the Telangana Government, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, asserted that the Congress government led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has been rapidly transforming rural and semi-urban Telangana by prioritising infrastructure and welfare. He said the Congress government was fulfilling its promises with visible development on the ground, especially in long-neglected regions like Kamareddy.

Shabbir Ali made these remarks while launching a series of developmental works in Kamareddy municipality on Tuesday. He inaugurated newly sanctioned cement concrete (CC) road works in Wards 4, 8, 29, 31, and 32, signalling the government’s commitment to improving basic civic infrastructure in smaller towns.

“The Congress government is not here for symbolic politics – we are delivering real work. Roads, drainage, education, and civic facilities have been improved across Telangana. For decades, the people of Kamareddy were sidelined, but under CM Revanth Reddy’s leadership, things have started changing fast,” Shabbir Ali said.

Addressing corner meetings in Wards 4 and 29, he emphasised that this was just the beginning and that the Congress government’s development model would soon cover all colonies and municipal divisions.

“These works are not just about laying roads; they are about restoring people’s faith in governance. The change you see today is the Congress government’s answer to years of neglect,” he added.

The programmes witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, party cadre, and civic leaders. Prominent Congress leaders, including former DCC President Kailash Srinivas, Mandal Congress President Gudem Srinivas, Town Congress President Pandla Raju, Market Committee Chairman Raja Goud, NRI Cell (Kuwait Chairman) Parvez and former municipal councillors including Anusha Prasanna Kumar, Ganesh, Siva Krishna Murthy, Pak Gnaneshwari, and Ravi Prasad, joined Shabbir Ali at various locations, underscoring the party’s grassroots mobilisation in the region.

Shabbir Ali thanked the residents for their cooperation and assured them that their long-pending demands, including better sanitation, drinking water supply, and drainage systems, would be systematically addressed in the coming months.

Residents in four localities, including Harijanwada and Azampura, have begun residing in the Indiramma houses recently allotted to them by the Congress government. As a goodwill gesture, senior Congress leader Shabbir Ali presented clothes to the new occupants.

Later in the day, the senior Congress leader visited the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Telangana BC Welfare Residential Girls’ School in Kamareddy to review the state of infrastructure and educational facilities. He interacted with the school principal to understand the challenges being faced by students and staff and assured them that the Congress government was committed to strengthening the residential school system.

Shabbir Ali raised concerns about the lack of basic amenities and immediately contacted BC Welfare Secretary Saidulu, urging him to take swift action to improve conditions at the school.

Highlighting the importance of sports in education, he also felicitated four students who had excelled at the national level in hockey. As a gesture of encouragement, he personally donated ₹10,000 from his own funds towards the purchase of hockey kit.

“Our government believes in nurturing talent and empowering girls through quality education and sports. We are not here to make announcements and disappear – we will follow through,” he said.

Shabbir Ali reiterated that the Congress government is pursuing an inclusive development agenda, with special attention to backward regions and marginalised communities. He said that the transformation underway in Kamareddy is part of a larger push to ensure equitable growth across Telangana.

“In just a few weeks of taking office, the Revanth Reddy government has started to undo years of administrative neglect. Whether it’s free bus travel for women, ration card distribution, or infrastructure in villages and towns, the people are witnessing a government that works for them,” he said.

He also called on Congress workers to remain active and visible in every colony and ward to ensure that government benefits reach the grassroots. “This is not just governance from above – it is participatory governance, where the people and party work hand-in-hand,” he added. (eom)
