Kamareddy, November 25: Government Adviser Mohammed Ali Shabbir, along with Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud, on Tuesday distributed interest-free loans and sarees to women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) at SV Gardens in Bhiknoor village, Kamareddy constituency. Additional Collector Victor was also present on the occasion.
As part of the Congress Government’s ongoing initiative to economically empower women, Shabbir Ali announced that interest-free loans amounting to ₹304 crore were being disbursed across Telangana to 3.5 lakh women SHGs under the third phase of the programme. Specifically for Kamareddy constituency, ₹3.25 crore worth of cheques were handed over to local SHGs.
Addressing the gathering, Shabbir Ali stated that the Congress Government is committed to making one crore women in Telangana financially self-reliant and transforming them into “crorepatis”. He said, “This is not just a scheme, but a step towards fulfilling the promise we made to the women of Telangana. The Congress government has already provided interest-free loans to women SHGs twice after coming to power, and this is the third phase being rolled out across the State.”
Highlighting the scale of the initiative, Shabbir Ali said that empowering women through financial independence is a core objective of the government. “We are determined to see every woman stand on her own feet, contribute to the growth of her family, and lead a worry-free life,” he said. He asserted that the Congress government’s schemes aim to provide comprehensive support to women across all domains.

In addition to the interest-free loans, Shabbir Ali outlined other welfare measures introduced by the government. These include the construction of Indiramma houses for eligible women, supply of fine rice to every household, provision of LPG cylinders at a subsidised rate of ₹500, and 200 units of free electricity to families. He said these measures reflect the Congress government’s broader mission of supporting households through direct welfare and reducing financial burdens.
TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, speaking at the event, emphasised the role of the Congress government in improving the lives of women since taking office. He noted that one of the government’s first actions was to introduce free bus travel for women across the State, enabling greater mobility and access to services.
He further stated that the government has actively entrusted women SHGs with meaningful livelihood activities, including the stitching of school uniforms and management of Amma Adarsha Schools. These initiatives, he said, are designed to generate income while promoting social inclusion.
In addition, the Congress government is implementing social welfare programmes focused on people with disabilities and gender equity, indicating a comprehensive and inclusive approach to development.
He reiterated that large-scale disbursement of interest-free loans to women SHGs will continue every year under the Congress-led administration. “This is not a one-time effort, but a sustained mission to ensure women play a central role in the economic transformation of Telangana,” Mahesh Goud said.
