Kamareddy, February 4: The Congress party held a spirited strategy meeting in Kamareddy on Wednesday ahead of the upcoming municipal elections.
The event, organised at Kings Convention Hall on Siricilla Road, was attended by senior party leaders, contesting candidates, and key functionaries from all 49 wards of the town. Government Adviser and veteran Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir participated as the chief guest and led the session.
Addressing the gathering, Shabbir Ali declared that Congress was determined to hoist its flag over the Kamareddy Municipality. He provided strategic direction to the ward-level candidates and released a special manifesto aimed at the comprehensive development of Kamareddy town. Emphasising that development would be the core message of the party’s campaign, he said the Congress was committed to delivering modern civic infrastructure and people-centric governance.
Shabbir Ali came down heavily on the sitting MLA and opposition leaders, accusing them of remaining absent from public life for the last two years and now appearing before the people only with the elections approaching. He questioned their silence on the controversial transfer of government degree college land to a private institution, demanding that those responsible be named. He also raised concerns over allegations that a Congress MLC ticket was sold, stating that the public deserved honest answers and accountability on all such matters.
Unveiling the manifesto, Shabbir Ali promised a transformative vision for Kamareddy’s future. He stated that the blueprint included the expansion of internal roads, establishment of a modern underground drainage system, and uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water to every household under Mission Bhagiratha. He also promised the modernisation of government hospitals and the transformation of government schools into ‘Amma Model Schools’ to ensure quality education for all.

He highlighted that welfare schemes such as Indiramma Housing and the Mahalakshmi programme, which includes free bus travel and LPG subsidies, were being implemented for all eligible citizens. Shabbir Ali urged candidates to go door-to-door, explain the government’s welfare initiatives, and clearly communicate the promises laid out in the manifesto. He asked them to identify local issues in each ward and educate the public on how the Congress plans to resolve them.
Calling for unity, discipline, and coordination among party workers, he said the goal must be to ensure victory in all 49 wards. He added that the people of Kamareddy had seen a decade of neglect and that the Congress party was prepared to reverse this with focused development and inclusive governance. He appealed to the public to vote for progress and assured them that every promise made by the Congress would be fulfilled.
Among those present at the meeting were former Kamareddy DCC president Kailas Srinivas Rao, DCC general secretaries Indrakaran Reddy and Gaddam Chandrasekhar Reddy, Library Chairman Chandrakant Reddy, town Congress president Pandla Raju, former municipal chairperson Indu Priya, mandal-level Congress leaders Ananth Reddy, Suthari Ramesh, Bheem Reddy, Ramesh Goud, and Gudem Srinivas Reddy. Several other local leaders, senior party members, and contesting candidates from all 49 wards also took part in the event. (eom)
